To access government online services on behalf of a business or entity, you need a myGovID. Your myGovID is your digital identity for government services.

Strong identity strength with face verification is now available in the myGovID app. A Strong identity strength better protects your identity and allows you to access more government services as they move online. As we’re still testing and improving this new technology, these new features are optional and don’t change the way you access services.

To set up a Strong myGovID, you need to verify an Australian passport, at least one other identity document and your photo. The one-off face verification process scans your face to check that you’re a real person, the right person and verifying in real time.

If you’ve already met these requirements, your identity strength will automatically be increased from Standard to Strong.

If you’re using the latest version of the myGovID app you may notice ‘Verify your photo’ appear at the top of your myGovID dashboard. This will appear if you’ve already verified your Australian passport.

All users have the opportunity to set up a Strong identity strength. You can access these features now by downloading the latest version of the app through your app store.
