RAA Natural Disaster Relief

Date: 30 September 2025

Natural disasters can strike unexpectedly, but support is available for affected communities across New South Wales. The NSW Government regularly updates its disaster assistance declarations, listing Local Government Areas (LGAs) that have been severely impacted by events such as storms, floods, and cyclones. If your area is listed, you may be eligible for a range of financial support measures.

Types of Assistance Available:

  • Immediate Relief: Grants for emergency accommodation and replacing essential household items for low-income, uninsured residents.
  • Home Repairs: Grants to help uninsured residents undertake essential structural repairs to homes damaged by disaster events.
  • Primary Producers & Small Businesses: Concessional loans up to $130,000 and transport subsidies up to $15,000 to help with cleanup, restoration, and re-establishing operations.
  • Sporting & Recreation Clubs: Concessional loans up to $10,000 and grants up to $2,000.
  • Not-for-Profit Organisations: Concessional loans up to $25,000.
  • Community Recovery: Funding for counter disaster operations and restoration of essential public assets.

Recent Disaster Declarations:

  • Storms and Floods (May 2025): Areas such as Armidale, Bega Valley, Camden, Central Coast, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Dungog, Hawkesbury, Kempsey, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, MidCoast, Newcastle, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Singleton, Upper Hunter, Walcha, and more have been declared eligible for assistance.
  • Far West Flooding (March 2025): Bourke, Brewarrina, Central Darling, Walgett, and more have been declared eligible.
  • Other Events: Griffith and Lockhart (December 2024 storms), and many more LGAs across NSW.
