ATO Business Portal Access Options

Date: 20 December 2016

The epic battle between browser and user has taken a happy turn in favour of the user.

AUSkeys are used by business owners and managers to access the ATO Business Portal in order to communicate securely with the ATO.

Issues have been arising from AUSkey’s incompatibility with certain web browsers. To address this, the ATO has developed downloadable browser extensions for both Windows and Mac users.

Windows users have extensions ready and available for Chrome and Firefox from the following link: https://www.ato.gov.au/Tax-professionals/Newsroom/Digital-interaction-with-us/AUSkey-for-Chrome-and-Firefox-browsers/?landingpage

Note that while you may be able to use your AUSkey to access the ATO Business Portal from Firefox at the moment, you will need to download the extension in the new year as upcoming Firefox upgrades will mean it will no longer be compatible. Microsoft Edge isn’t AUSkey compatible at this stage. For Mac users, your extensions are still being worked on and will be available in the near future.

Another option is to use your MyGov account to access the ATO Business Portal. The following link shows you how: https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Business-Portal/Getting-started/Manage-ABN-Connections/
